Aikido Uchideshi

He who has gained the secret of Aikido has the universe in himself and can say, "I am the universe." I am never defeated, however fast the enemy may attack. It is not because my technique is faster than that of the enemy. It is not a question of speed. The fight is finished before it is begun.

When an enemy tries to fight with me, the universe itself, he has to break the harmony of the universe. Hence at the moment he has the mind to fight with me, he is already defeated. There exists no measure of time -- fast or slow.

Aikido is non-resistance. As it is non-resistant, it is always victorious.

Class Features:

All of the following are class features of the Aikido Uchideshi prestige class.

 

Weapon and Armor Proficiency:

The Aikido Uchideshi gains proficiency with the Quaterstaff but not with any armor or shields.

 

Monk Abilities:

An Aikido Uchideshi's class levels stack with his monk levels for determining his AC Bonus, his Unarmored Speed Bonus and his Slow fall Bonus, but no other Monk abilities such as improved Flurry of Blows and increased unarmed Damage.

 

Path of Thought(Ex):

The Aikidoka gradually realizes that not his body but his mind is the key to success.

In certain situations, when he is applying a physical attribute modifier, he replaces that modifier with a mental one. The number of situations, where Path of Thought is applicable increases over time. STR and CON modifiers are replaced by his WIS modifier, DEX modifiers are replaced by his CHA modifier.

  1. Grapple: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS modifier instead of the STR modifier to the melee touch attack required to grab the target and to opposed Grapple Checks.
  2. Trip: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS modifier instead of his STR modifier to Opposed Checks when tripping.
  3. Disarm: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS modifier instead of his STR modifier to opposed attack rolls when disarming.
  4. Melee: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS modifier instead of his STR modifier to meele attack rolls and meele damage rolls. An Aikido Uchideshi with the Weapon Finesse Feat may apply his CHA Bonus to Attack rolls instead.
  5. Initiative: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his CHA modifier instead of his DEX modifier to Initiative checks.
  6. Saving throws: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his CHA modifier instead of his DEX modifier to Reflex Saves and his WIS modifier instead of his CON modifier to Fortitude Saves.
  7. Skills: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS modifier instead of the STR or CON modifier to Skill checks influenced by the STR or CON modifier and his CHA modifier instead of the DEX modifier to Skill checks influenced by the DEX modifier.
  8. Armor Class: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his CHA modifier instead of his DEX modifier to his Armor class. This modifier is lost whenever he would lose his DEX Bonus and when wearing Armor.
  9. Ranged: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his CHA modifier instead of his DEX modifier to ranged attack rolls and his WIS modifier instead of his STR modifier to ranged damage rolls, when using an appropriate composite Bow.
  10. Universal: The Aikido Uchideshi applies his WIS Modifier instead of his CON modifier to calculate his hitpoints, and furthermore replaces in every situation his modifier on STR and CON with his WIS modifier, as well as his DEX modifier with his CHA modifier.

 

Bonus Feat:

At 4th and 8th level the Aikido Uchideshi may select a Bonus Feat for which he meets the prerequisites from the following list:

  • Greater Kiai Shout*
  • Holy Subdual°
  • Improved Disarm
  • Improved Grapple
  • Improved Trip

  • Vow of Peace°
  • Weapon Focus(quaterstaff)
  • Weapon Focus(bokken)
  • Weapon Focus(tanto)
  • Weapon Focus(longspear)

 

Bonus Feat (Defensive Throw,Vow of Peace,Elusive Target):

At 2nd,6th and 10th Level the Aikido Uchideshi gets this Feat as a Bonus Feat.He needs not have any of the prerequisites normally required for these feats to select them. If he already has this Feat, he may take another Feat from his List of Bonus feats or from the Fighter Bonus Feat list.

 

One with the Enemy (Su):

As a free action, the Aikido Uchideshi may activate or deactivate this ability. He may only activate or deactivate it one time in a round and it may only be active for a total number of rounds equal to his number of class levels each day.Thus,the duration must not be spend as one but can be spend in fragments as short as 1 round each. If "One with the Enemy" is active and an opponent rolls against the Aikido Uchideshi and he would apply his STR bonus, he is denied his STR bonus.
